About the project

For the 2025 24HR Design Challenge, I responded to the prompt “The Last Thing We Heard” and instantly envisioned a desolate, isolated, and lonely apocalypse. The goal was to capture the concept of hearing by connecting it with motion pictures. What better way to capture the truly isolated and silent emotions than by experiencing the rollercoaster of an apocalyptic film titled The Last Signal.

Bringing a sense of silence with an abandoned room that features a desk with multiple points towards preparing for doomsday. The window framed by cobwebs lets in the orange wasteland with barren trees that create a sense of the end. Sitting on the desk is an old radio that plays into the theme of sound, beside a chalk inscription on the table that reads "The Last Thing We Heard", beside a bloodied table corner and a baseball bat. Keeping with a dark and restricted colour palette allowed for a dull and dramatic aesthetic that keeps the sense of apocalypse. The poster is rough and scratchy, reflecting the harsh environment and experience portrayed in the design.

With the emotional turmoil that comes with isolation, hopelessness, and dooms day; it reminds you that time if fleeting, and this may be “the last thing we heard.”
